| To us, in the modern world, the concept of Chemotherapy is either so ordinary or, alternatively, so frightening (as in cancer chemotherapy) as to obscure its once somewhat radical nature, the idea that diseases could be treated via the application of chemistry, that is, using purified chemicals, rather than via treatment with more natural products; today we call this once radical idea simply taking or administering therapeutic drugs. |
