The ovary as a component of the carpel is connected to the style. In flowers possessing multiple, fused carpels, the ovary is considered to span multiple carpels.
Note that gymnosperms lack ovaries, which instead are aspects of angiosperms. Similarly, and essentially equivalently, gymnosperms lack flowers.
The ovary is the key component of fruit, which to a degree can be viewed as fertilized, seed-containing flower ovaries. fruit, that is, essentially represent a form of flower ovaries.
