Phage Titer

The concentration especially of bacteriophage virions that are found suspended within an environment.

A titer traditionally is accomplished in a plus-or-minus manner depending on degree of diluting, i.e., is there or is there not indication of the presence of something at a given dilution. With Phage Titering, by contrast, the goal typically is an actual viable count of phages present.

Typically phage titers are calculated in terms of plaque-forming units per some volume, i.e., typically per ml.

See also the concept of serial dilution as well as the mentioned, viable count.
