Saturation

For proteins, sufficient substrate or ligand presence that binding sites are more or less continuously occupied.

Saturation can occur for receptor proteins (with ligand) or for enzymes (with substrate). The result is that the protein is nearly continuously acting as bound, either carrying out enzymatic activity or transducing signals. See similarly enzyme saturation.
