Scientific Method

Means of discovery involving ongoing hypothesis generation that is followed by efforts towards hypothesis falsification.

The Scientific Method is both not magical and not rigid in how it is executed but instead represents a combination of 'common sense' with rigorous approaches towards preventing your or other's common sense from leading you (or others) astray.

Figure legend: Scientific method as viewed particularly from the perspective of experimentation. Note, however, that science is not limited to the doing of experiments, though experimentation ultimately is a key aspect of science that can differentiate science from other approaches one can employ towards discovery of the functioning of our universe. Note the details of actual experimentation which typically should include a negative control as well as positive control.
