Chemotherapeutic that is manufactured in the laboratory rather than by living organisms (such as by fungi or bacteria).

A Synthetic Drug is an artificial drug, particularly antibacterial substances that are not naturally occurring nor based on molecules that are naturally occurring.

Synthetic drugs can be antibacterial agents, antiviral agents, antifungal agents, etc. Contrast with semisynthetic drugs and, depending on definitions, with antibiotic as well.

On the other hand, even naturally occurring ntibiotics can be produced as synthetic drugs, that is, if they in fact can be synthesized 'from scratch' in the laboratory.
