Darwinian Fitness

The number of progeny produced by an organism, especially which survive to produce progeny of their own.

Typically, in evolution studies, Darwinian fitness is associated with specific genotypes, especially genotypes as represented by individual alleles. Darwinian fitness often is distinguished into an absolute fitness versus a relative fitness, and typically is described simply as fitness.
