Biomass

Total or specific subset of organic material stored with an environment.

Total biomass makes up the bodies of all of the organisms found within an environment, both living and no longer living. This is the primary productivity within the environment that has not yet been mineralized nor converted to waste heat.

Biomass can be determined for specific aspects of environments such as in terms of the biomass of a single species or a single trophic level (e.g., producers), etc..
