Dominant

Allele whose associated phenotype is expressed under most or all circumstances, particularly independent in diploid individuals of whatever allele it is paired with at the same locus.

A dominant allele paired with a recessive allele results in the dominant phenotype as too the dominant allele paired with the dominant allele also results in the dominant phenotype.

In certain instances a dominant allele can be paired with another but different dominant allele, which can result in the expression of both dominant phenotypes, a phenomenon known as codominance, i.e., as is seen with ABO blood types (i.e., type AB).
