Segregation of Transcription and Translation

In eukaryotes, that RNA polymerization takes places in the nucleus while amino acid polymerization takes place in the cytoplasm.

Because of segregation of transcription and translation, eukaryotes also display substantial RNA processing, which occurs during the delay incurred during the movement between these two compartments, nucleus and cytoplasm.

In prokaryotes, by contrast, translation can and does begin before transcription ends.
