Recognition sequence associated with aminoacyl tRNAs that specifically interacts with messenger RNAs.
The base sequence of the anticodon is the complement of the codon it recognizes, or at least nearly the complement (i.e., see wobble). Indeed, codons along with codon amino acid specificities are defined by their interaction with these tRNA anticodons.
