Contrast nucleotide which is a nucleoside in combination with a single phosphate group.
One sees reference to nucleosides in adenosine triphosphate (i.e., ATP), where adenosine is the nucleoside of adenine, and guanosine triphosphate (i.e., GTP) where guanosine is the nucleoside of guanine. See also the concept of nucleoside analog.
